2009 RivLife Community Centre
In our current economic climate, when business’s are not as generous as we would like them to be and bureaucracy continues to stifle government spending, non governmental organizations like the Rivlife Community Centre are significantly impacted. The unrelenting efforts of the director and staff of this organization, however, cannot be ignored when one looks at everything that has been achieved despite the limited resources.
This organization is either directly or indirectly positively impacting the lives of thousands of people. From addressing the needs of the youngest in the community, the orphaned and vulnerable children, to assisting the elderly with pension applications, the Rivlife Community Center is providing a holistic and comprehensive community development programme. This approach, which promotes development and self sustainability amongst impoverished communities, is the only way that poverty will be eradicated and human dignity restored. It is quite clear from the strategic programmes presented in this document that the Rivlife Community Center would rather see poverty eradication rather than poverty alleviation.
The statistics and achievements highlighted in the report will speak for itself. While it is with extreme pleasure that such a report is presented we are all too aware that there is much more to be done. Nevertheless, the management and staff of Rivlife Community Centre, together with the Eldership of River of Life Christian Ministries, is highly commended for their commitment and achievements thus far in the community of Ward 34.
